Modern slavery and ethical sourcing policy

Purple Frog Signs Ltd does not accept forced labour, servitude, human trafficking or child exploitation. This voluntary policy describes the proportionate standards the company intends to apply when selecting suppliers and contractors and responding to a credible concern; it is not a statutory annual transparency statement.

Purpose and scope

Purple Frog Signs Ltd is a signage, graphics and print company based in Hythe, Kent. Its work can involve purchased substrates, films, inks, print and display products, fixings, packaging, delivery services, specialist manufacture and installation support.

This policy applies to decisions made by Purple Frog Signs about its own working arrangements and the suppliers or contractors it engages. It sets expectations without claiming that every tier of a supply chain has been audited or certified.

Standards we expect

Work connected with Purple Frog Signs should be freely chosen, lawfully paid and carried out without coercion, trafficking, debt bondage, withheld identity documents or unlawful child labour. People should be treated with dignity and able to raise a genuine concern without intimidation.

Suppliers and contractors are expected to comply with applicable employment, right-to-work, wage, working-time, health and safety and modern-slavery law in the places where they operate.

A proportionate supplier approach

The information reasonably requested from a supplier should reflect the nature of the product or service, where it is made, the labour involved, the length and value of the relationship and any warning signs identified. This may include asking about origin, subcontracting, recruitment practices or the supplier's own standards where the risk justifies it.

A small business may not have direct visibility of every upstream organisation. Lack of complete visibility should lead to proportionate questions and documented decisions, not an unsupported claim that a supply chain is risk-free.

Warning signs

Concerns can include workers appearing controlled or frightened, wages or identity documents being withheld, unexplained recruitment fees or debt, restrictions on movement, unsafe accommodation tied to work, a supplier refusing reasonable information, or working conditions that do not match what was agreed.

The presence of one sign may not establish what has happened, but a credible concern should not be ignored.

Raising a concern

A worker, contractor, supplier, customer or member of the public can raise a concern with Purple Frog Signs by emailing info@purplefrogsigns.com or telephoning 01303 656 111. Share only information that is safe and lawful to provide.

If someone is in immediate danger, call 999. Non-emergency concerns can also be reported to the UK Modern Slavery and Exploitation Helpline on 0800 0121 700 or through the official reporting service at modernslavery.gov.uk.

How a concern should be handled

Purple Frog Signs should consider immediate safety, preserve relevant information, limit disclosure to people who need to know and obtain specialist or legal advice where appropriate. The response should avoid action that could put a potential victim at greater risk.

Depending on the evidence and severity, the response may include asking for clarification, requiring corrective action, pausing new work, reporting to an appropriate authority or ending a supplier or contractor relationship. Remediation and the safety of affected people should be considered before a purely commercial response.

Responsibility and review

The directors of Purple Frog Signs Ltd are responsible for approving this policy and deciding how proportionate checks and concerns are recorded. Anyone purchasing goods or engaging a contractor on behalf of the company should follow the approved process and escalate a concern.

Once approved, the policy should be reviewed after a material change in the business or supply chain and at least annually. Any future public statement must describe steps actually taken during the relevant period and must not reuse targets, audit claims or governance roles without evidence.
