Common applications

Choosing the board

Foamex / expanded PVC offers a smooth, lightweight face and is widely used for indoor display. Thickness should reflect panel size and how it is supported.

Display card and paper-based boards may suit short-term indoor use and particular disposal priorities, but moisture and handling need consideration.

Polypropylene boards can offer lightweight, durable and potentially PVC-free alternatives for suitable applications.

ACM provides greater rigidity and may suit longer-term or more demanding panel use, but is heavier and should not be selected automatically for a temporary easel display.

Design as a readable series

For several boards, establish a common grid, heading system, image treatment, numbering and footer. Keep text sizes appropriate to the expected reading distance. Long interpretation copy needs a different hierarchy from a promotional headline.

Artwork and images

Supply original photographs, approved text, logos, required credits and the intended board order. We check image resolution at final size and provide proofs. The client remains responsible for copy accuracy, image permissions and final approval.

These visual guides show common material characteristics rather than completed Purple Frog Signs projects. The final specification still depends on location, construction, lifespan, finish and fixing method.

ACM / aluminium composite material

A rigid, stable panel commonly used for flat signs and trays. Different grades and finishes are available; suitability depends on the construction and environment.

Foamex / expanded PVC sheet

A lightweight, smooth-faced board often used for indoor displays and suitable shorter-term applications. Thickness and use must be matched to the installation.

Exhibition and display board

Lightweight and rigid display boards are available for presentations, open days, events and temporary information. Edge finish, size, support and reuse affect the specification.

What thickness of Foamex should I choose?

It depends on the board size, support, transport and whether it must remain flat without a full backing. We recommend a thickness after understanding how the board will be displayed.

Can you design a complete set from supplied content?

Yes. We can create the visual system and lay out each approved text and image set, with clear proofing and board numbering.

Can boards be double-sided?

Yes, with the construction selected for opacity, support and edge appearance. Confirm whether both sides will be viewed in the same orientation.

How should the boards be transported?

Keep them flat or suitably protected, avoid pressure on corners and separate printed faces where abrasion is possible. Packing can be discussed as part of the project.
