At Purple Frog Signs, we’re all about creating spaces that look great and keep people safe. This week, our team members Chris and Harrison were busy at a Showcase cinema in Southampton, fitting safety stickers (also known as glass manifestations) to glass panels and balustrades.

While they might look like simple dots, logos, or patterns, these stickers are essential in public buildings, and here’s why.

Why Do Glass Panels Need Safety Stickers?

Large, clear glass panels can be almost invisible to the eye, especially in bright, modern interiors like cinemas, offices, and shopping centres. Without proper markings, there’s a real risk that someone could walk straight into them – leading to accidents and injuries.

That’s why UK law requires glass manifestations in certain locations.

What the Regulations Say

To comply with the rules, safety stickers must:✅ Contrast with the background, so they’re always visible.✅ Be placed at two heights: 850–1000mm and 1400–1600mm from the floor.✅ Be at least 150mm high for logos or 50mm high for decorative features.

This ensures people of all heights (including children and wheelchair users) can clearly see the glass.

The Southampton Cinema Project

Our team fitted manifestations to glass balustrades and stairways throughout the cinema. Not only does this bring the building in line with safety regulations, but it also keeps the sleek, modern design of the venue intact.
